The Cabin was originally built in the 1870's in Peninsula State Park. It was purchased and moved in 1955 to its current location by Maggy Magerstadt Fisher, an actress from NYC who was involved in the Peninsula Players Theater, as her guest home on the estate. The cabin has retained its original charm through its various updates. It currently features 3 bedrooms, 1 and 1/2 bath, a living room and a kitchenette. The location is idyllic, on the shoreline of Green Bay, in Fish Creek.
The space
A Bayfront Door County Retreat – History, Charm & Sunset Views This historic 1870s log cabin is a true Door County gem—nestled on our private estate between Fish Creek and Egg Harbor, and grandfathered in just steps from the shoreline. The sunsets here are some of the best in the county, with wide bay views right from your front porch. Peaceful, private, and full of character, the cabin is a restful place to unwind. The cabin sleeps up to 8 guests and offers a cozy living space with a simple kitchenette with Keurig, a gas grill for easy outdoor meals, and a porch perfect for sunset-watching or stargazing. There’s also a fire pit for evening s’mores and conversation under the stars. Guests have access to kayaks, paddleboards, and our pool and hot tub, which are available exclusively to guests between 12–5:30 PM daily. A peaceful walking trail leads directly from the cabin to the Peninsula Players Theatre, and you’re just minutes from some of Door County’s most creative and inspiring spots: Edgewood Orchard Galleries, Write On, Door County’s literary campus with trails and programs, and Deanna Clayton’s glass studio and classes are all nearby. The Door County Trolley Depot is just a mile down the road, and wineries, shops, beaches, and parks are all within easy reach. The cabin has a rich history—it was moved here in the 1950s from Peninsula State Park by Maggy Magerstadt, a New York City actress and lifelong supporter of the Peninsula Players. Over the years, it has welcomed Broadway stars, Mad Magazine illustrators, and more recently, the cast and crew of Green and Gold, starring Craig T. Nelson and Brandon Sklenar—who used it as Billy’s cabin. Today, we lovingly call it The Juddville Riviera. We live full-time on the estate and treat every guest like a friend—offering privacy, but nearby if you need anything or want local recommendations. Looking to add something special to your stay? Just a mile down the road in Juddville, we offer private cooking classes at The Door County Hidden Kitchen, a creative space where guests can book custom culinary experiences. Peggy, your host, is trained in Basic Cuisine and traditional bread making at Le Cordon Bleu Paris, and is also the heart behind “Thursdays with Theo”, a cooking series with a retired Austrian chef. Together, they’re releasing a cookbook of the savory Door County dishes once served at Theo's American Bistro. We also collaborate with local chefs and artists to offer one-of-a-kind classes and community dinners. If you're interested in adding a unique experience to your stay, just ask—we’d love to create something special for your group.

The cabin has its own private entrance and sits on our peaceful estate where we live full-time. There’s a queen bed on the main floor, and upstairs you’ll find two separate bedrooms—one with four twin beds, and a second tucked-away room with two additional twins and a half bath. 🌐 Wi-Fi & Tech We have reliable Wi-Fi with download speeds of around 18.1 Mbps and upload speeds of 1.42 Mbps—plenty for streaming and Zoom calls. You’ll also have access to YouTube TV, Netflix, and a great collection of DVDs. For a more structured remote work setup, the beautiful Kress Pavilion Library & Community Center is just 2.6 miles away. ☀️ Seasonal Notes Our cabin is available from May 15 to about the third week in October, depending on the weather. Pool & Hot Tub: Open Memorial Day through Labor Day with shared access from 12–5:30 PM daily. Kayaks & Paddleboards: Stored away in October at season’s end. The cabin has two window A/C units, heat, and a cozy fireplace. (Please ask us how to use the fireplace—it’s for evenings when you're home, and fires must never be left unattended.) 🚗 Parking We share a main driveway with ample space. Please pull into the circle and park on the right-hand side so other vehicles can pass through. Do not park on the grass—Jeff has poured his heart (and many weekends) into the landscaping, and we really don’t want to make him cry. Guests will walk across the lawn on the south side of the house to reach the cabin—there’s no marked trail, but the lights will lead the way. Kid-Friendly Very much so! We have seven grandkids (and two more on the way), so we know how to make families feel at home. Life jackets in multiple sizes are available, and the space is perfect for memory-making with little ones. “Bubba and Gammy” are fan favorites with the kids! 🐶 Pet Policy We do not allow guest pets, as we have three very friendly Cavalier King Charles Spaniels—Gracie (Princess Gracie), Maggy and Winston (named after the prime ministers Margaret Thatcher and Winston Churchill). Not kidding, we treat them like royalty. We’ve recently added Winston to our family after Peggy’s mom, who had Alzheimer’s, moved into a nursing home. If anyone in your group is uneasy around dogs, just let us know—we’re happy to keep them nearby or out of sight. 🧂 Pantry We provide the essentials: filtered drinking water, Keurig coffee pods, stevia, salt, and pepper. 📍 Peggy’s Door County Picks (Insider Tips) You’ll find a pdf guide with Peggy’s curated list of local favorites: restaurants, hikes, beaches, and bakeries, art, quiet trails, winery stops, and live music venues and guest-only experiences. And of course, Peggy’s own Hidden Kitchen for cooking classes and more! 🤝 Local Collaborations & Guest-Only Experiences Want to add something special to your stay? We’ve partnered with amazing locals to bring unique offerings to you: Local chef/caterers for special onsite dining on the porch or private lawn area. Private fitness sessions with personal trainer Amy Jacobs (great for individuals, families, or groups) Massage therapy in your cabin or on private lawn Private art or cooking classes from local artists and chefs—just ask for availability and booking details!
